Chai Tea Mix Featured

Being a coffee addict I love how refreshing a chai latte can be. Rich and creamy with delicious aromatic spices, having a jar of this chai tea mix on hand means I can easily whip up a Chai Latte in no time. I love using monk fruit in this mix but erythritol, xylitol and stevia all work well. Coconut sugar can also be used but it will push the carbs up in the recipe.
Masala Chai
Masala Chai is a creamy, spiced tea that's very popular in India but is also served in most, coffee shops. While chia tea is simply tea served with milk, Masala Chai includes added spices and is generally made with black tea, milk, sweetener (or sugar) and spices. To keep this recipe low carb I have used nut milk and cream to replace the milk and I also use a low carb sweetener such as monk fruit/stevia/erythritol or xylitol.
Instant Chai Tea Mix
The brilliant thing about this pre mixed Chai Tea Mix is that you can quickly make a cup of chai tea without having to measure out any spices. Simply steep your favorite black tea in 1/2 cup of hot water. Add 2-3 teaspoons of your chai tea mix to 1/4 cup of nut milk (or coconut milk) and 1/4 pure heavy cream (or coconut cream) and heat to just below boiling point. Allow to steep for a couple of minutes before pouring your milk into your tea. If you do it from a height you can create a lovely froth on top of your chai tea. Being a huge coffee fiend, I love switching out one of my coffee's in a day for a chai latte.  Having this ready made mix on hand makes it really convenient and so quick and easy to make.

  • Remove the tea bag from the water and pour the spiced milk mixture from a height into the tea to create froth.

Recipe Notes

Optional- scrape a vanilla bean into the spice mix. If you do this, store the discarded vanilla bean in the chai mixture to impart more delicious vanilla flavors.
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
If you reduce the amount of sweetener used in the recipe you will have to reduce the amount of spice mix that you use in your tea as it will become more concentrated.
Note that the spices will pool at the bottom of your cup. Keep stirring your tea as you drink it to try to prevent this from happening.
If you use a more concentrated sweetener you will need to to adjust the amount that you use to prevent your tea from being too sweet.
